The current anti-police sentiment and defund the police movement has held back many police officers from doing their jobs because they are fearful that they will be excoriated on social media or worse yet, thrown in jail.

Others are getting told from the powers-that-be that they aren’t allowed to engage in certain situations.

According to HotAir.com, in Aurora, Colorado, police officers have not engaged with two different suspects who put children in peril.

The first incident had a man with a long criminal history destroying property, exposing himself to young girls and threatening people at an apartment complex after throwing a rock through someone’s window.

Instead of taking the suspect to jail in order to protect the public, the police talked to the alleged criminal and did nothing to apprehend him.

The police officers didn’t want to get into a confrontation or a use-of-force scenario.

Hello????

Isn’t that your job??

Apparently, they think their job is to resolve a problem with the least amount of confrontation instead of protecting the public.

That is NOT cool.

Or acceptable.

I do not pay a boat load of taxes so that police officers can chat with violent criminals and let them go.

Incident number two had a child abuse suspect on parole with multiple warrants. He barricaded himself in his house with one of his kids and some firearms.

The police were able to get the suspect to surrender his daughter but after a few hours, the police decided to leave the situation and the suspect is still on the run.

So the suspect continues to be a threat to his family and the rest of us because the police didn’t do their job.

The suspect’s warrant was for domestic violence charges because he was believed to have assaulted his son and abused his daughter. He was also wanted for felony kidnapping in another city.

Sounds like someone we want roaming the streets, right?

The police issued a statement where they said, “Members of our community and across the nation have made it very clear that they want their police department to respond differently to some incidents, particularly when there is a possibility of using serious force against a subject. Avoiding unnecessary confrontations was now a top priority for the department. Sometimes this means walking away from a situation and utilizing investigative resources to apprehend persons at a later time.”

How lovely. We are letting the criminals and their supporters decide what police officers are going to do (and mostly NOT do) to make sure that the rights of the criminals aren’t violated in any way and they aren’t inconvenienced.

The Police Chief of Aurora is Vanessa Wilson. The first woman to hold the position, Wilson was appointed to be the chief in January with a 10-1 City Council vote.

Because the department got wrapped up in a high profile case involving the death of Elijah McClain and pubic outcry over it, Wilson appears to be walking on eggshells, like many other police departments, in order to keep the anti-police groups at bay.

Wilson’s “acceptance speech” for her job included being committed to making the city safer for all.

It’s obvious that she doesn’t quite understand what that means.
