Yesterday, we reported that Texas weather reporter Kelly Plasker had been found dead after posting a chilling confession of her “sins” on Facebook. Now, tragic new details about Plasker’s death are coming to light.

A colleague of Plasker’s at NBC affiliate KCBD confirmed that she committed suicide on Sunday, two years after her son killed himself at the age of 19. Plasker’s coworker Karin McKay remembered her heartbreak over her son’s death in an on-air tribute on Monday night.

“What you couldn’t see on TV was a broken heart,” McKay said. “I remember one day two years ago when she and I sat and talked in the studio and she told me her world would never be the same.”

“She said, ‘He was 19 years old, 2 weeks away from turning 20.’ Kelly was referring to her son, Thomas, who took his life in February of 2018,” McKay recalled, adding that Plaster told her at the time that it was “very difficult for those of us who knew him to comprehend why.”

“Now, this weekend, our sweet Kelly took her own life, a cry for help that she made very public on her Facebook page,” McKay explained to viewers.

In this last Facebook post, the weather reporter penned a “final confession for the sins I am responsible for” in which she claimed a teacher in high school groomed her for a years-long relationship.

“He was supposed to be somebody looking out for me, but instead of looking out for me he looked at me in ways that men should not look at children,” she wrote in the post.

Plasker concluded the post by indicating that she was struggling with mental health issues.

“I love you my friends. My brain is broken and I cannot take it anymore,” she said.

KCBD vice president and general manager Dan Jackson confirmed Plasker’s death on Monday in a statement to PEOPLE magazine.

“We are deeply saddened by the tragic and sudden loss of KCBD weekend morning forecaster Kelly Plasker. Kelly was a dedicated member of the KCBD weather staff, well-liked by viewers and admired by her co-workers. Our deepest sympathies go out to Kelly’s family in this time of great loss,” Jackson said. “We would like to thank the many viewers who have reached out through our social media channels in kindness and support to honor Kelly’s memory.”
