Earlier this week, we reported that Prince William and Kate Middleton were being hit with backlash for sharing a photo of just themselves and Prince Harry for his birthday, and not including his wife Meghan Markle. Now, a writer is speaking out to say that Harry must have been very hurt by this snub of his wife.
Journalist Amanda Platell wrote for Daily Mail that the snub was made worse by the fact that Kate was included in the photo, and Meghan wasn’t.
“Despite Palace protocol dictating that spouses are not included in pictures celebrating royal birthdays, it must have hurt Prince Harry deeply to see that the images released by his grandmother, father and brother to celebrate his 36th birthday all excluded his wife Megs,” Platell wrote. “To compound things, Kate was in the 2017 picture sent by the Cambridges.”

This comes after William and Kate shared a photo of themselves racing with Harry at a Heads Together relay at London’s Olympic Park in February 2017.

William and Kate were hit with backlash from Meghan fans for leaving her out of their birthday tribute to Harry.
“Interesting photo selection! No Meghan…” one person commented, with another writing, “The shade of them using this pic rather than one including his wife.”
“There must have been hundreds of photos you could have picked, but you chose to post one of Harry, William and Kate,” a third person wrote. “I’m sure not including Meghan wasn’t unintentional. Not very classy…”
Others, however, took William and Kate’s side.
“Most birthday posts here are of Kate, William and the birthday person, or even individual pics of the birthday person, even the Queens birthday pic didn’t include the Duke of Edinburgh: check out the others, Princess Anne, Prince George, Duke of Edinburgh, even Kate’s herself…..” one royal follower explained. “Nothing wrong with this, no hidden message, they just don’t include everyone in a birthday pic.”
Another royal fan added, “What is wrong with everyone upset they didn’t include Meghan in the picture. 1) it’s Harry’s birthday. 2.) they posted a picture of Meghan alone on her birthday and no one asked where’s Harry….! People are always looking for something where there’s nothing. That’s his brother, 3.) and all things considered… i.e. the book… why are you surprised though?”
