It’s been a rough few months for singer and talk show host Kelly Clarkson, as she filed for divorce from her husband Brandon Blackstock back in June. Now, things have gotten even worse for her, as she is being sued by her management company, which is run by her estranged husband’s father.

Page Six has confirmed that Los Angeles County Superior Court records show that Starstruck Management Group filed a lawsuit against Clarkson, 38, on Tuesday for allegedly stiffing them out of more than $1 million in commissions. In the suit, the company claims it is owed $1.4 million in unpaid commissions from Clarkson’s work on “The Voice” and her eponymous talk show.

Starstruck Management Group is run by Brandon’s father Narvel Blackstock, who also happens to be the ex-husband of country music legend Reba McEntire. Clarkson has been working with the company for the past 13 years and has paid them 15 percent on her gross earnings. The suit alleges that while she has paid them $1.9 million so far this year, she still has an unpaid balance.

The lawsuit goes on to claim that Clarkson will owe the company at least $5.4 million by the end of this year. However, the company does admit in court documents that the terms were verbally negotiated by Clarkson’s lawyer and business manager in 2007 and that there is no written management agreement, which will potentially pose a major complication to the management group’s case.

Clarkson has yet to respond to the lawsuit publicly.

This comes after Clarkson addressed her divorce and her difficult year in the season premiere of her talk show.

“As you probably know, 2020 has brought a lot of change also to my personal life,” Clarkson said. “Definitely didn’t see anything coming that came, but what I’m dealing with is hard — it involves more than just my heart, it involves a lot of little hearts.”

Clarkson and Blackstock are parents to River, 6, and Remington, 4, and she made it clear that her children are her top priority.

“Divorce is never easy. We’re both from divorced families, so we know the best thing here is to protect our children and their little hearts,” she said. “I’m usually very open and I usually talk about everything, but in this case, I will talk a little bit here and there about how it affects me personally, but probably won’t go too far into it because I’m a mama bear and my kids come first.”
