As California continues to struggle amid record heat waves, raging fires, and Covid-19, Los Angeles mayor Eric Garcetti decided to use his Democratic powers to ask residents to do more. With countless videos spreading online of the horrors California is facing, L.A. residents were shocked when Mayor Garcetti tweeted a message about their use of electricity.
On Sunday, just before 3 p.m., Mayor Garcetti tweeted residents to, “turn off major appliances, set the thermostat to 78 degrees (or use a fan instead), turn off excess lights and unplug any appliances you’re not using. We need every Californian to help conserve energy. Please do your part.” He was also sure to end with the “FlexAlert” hashtag to show the level of seriousness.

The reasoning for the tweet comes after record-setting heatwaves caused residents to turn down their thermostats to help cool their homes. With the extra strain of energy on the power grid, the city has seen several blackouts, with another power failure nearly averted over the weekend.
As for Mayor Garcetti’s tweet, thousands of people and residents responded, many shocked that one of the wealthiest cities in the world would be on the verge of collapse. While some were confused, others were quick to point out the democratic leadership and their pillars of tomorrow – liberalism, socialism, and progressivism.
Among the sea of tweets were high ranking officials and celebrities like Ben Shapiro, the Deputy Director of Homeland Security Ken Cuccinelli, and even Senator Ted Cruz. He tweeted, “Socialism sucks. With Biden-Harris, this train wreck of an energy policy is coming to your state too. Their new slogan: if you want to live without air conditioning—vote Democrat.”
As for the rowdy, silver-tongued Ben Shaprio, “We pay some of the highest taxes in the nation, and what we receive for those tax dollars are riots condoned by the city, and an insufficient energy grid to deal with the super-unpredictable fact that it gets f***ing hot in summer in CA.”
Ken Cuccinelli replied to the mayor’s tweet with a simple line summing up Democrats, “Here’s what a highly regulated, government dictated energy system gets you… weakness, failure and danger.”
Politicians and celebrities weren’t the only people aiming at the Democrats as one user said, “Just showed this warning to my wife. She’s a recent immigrant from a third world country. The look on her face was priceless when she realized that California, a major first world economic powerhouse, couldn’t keep the power on any better than the country she just left.”
