The NBA just fired a veteran photographer who had worked with the Houston Rockets for over thirty years for posting an offensive meme about Kamala Harris on Facebook.

Right after Joe Biden named Harris as his running mate, Houston-based freelance photographer Bill Baptist took to Facebook to post a meme that mocked the Biden campaign and his running mate with a logo that read, “Joe and the Hoe.” Former WNBA star Sheryl Swoopes then came upon Baptist’s post and shared it to her own page as she demanded the NBA fire the photographer, writing, “So this guy works for the NBA but covers the Houston Rockets. Has been around for a while. Even worked for the Houston Comets. It’s amazing how people will smile in your face but eventually their true colors will show. @NBA and Houston Rockets he needs to GO!!! So disrespectful. Bill Baptiste (sic) shame on you!!!”

The NBA responded by immediately cutting ties with Baptiste, telling KPRC-TV in a statement, “The photographer is an independent contractor and his services are no longer being used in Orlando.”

Baptist also released a statement of his own, saying that he had made “a horrible mistake” in posting the meme.

“I deeply regret posting on my Facebook page a phrase that I saw and copied from others as a sample of some people’s reactions to Biden’s selection of Senator Harris as his choice for VP,” he wrote. “The phrase I posted does not reflect my personal views at all. I should not have been so insensitive to post the statements by others. I sincerely apologize to all of those who have rightfully been offended and I have taken the post down from my FB page. It was a horrible mistake on my part.”

It seems that cancel culture has claimed yet another victim. Had Baptist posted any kind of “offensive” meme about President Donald Trump, he undoubtedly would have suffered no repercussions. Since he went after a Democrat like Harris, however, the liberal outrage mob did not hesitate to come for his head.
