A former friend of Ghislaine Maxwell’s is speaking out this week to say that she will never betray Prince Andrew, who has been accused of having sex with Jeffrey Epstein’s “sex slave” Virginia Roberts Giuffre when she was underage.

Christopher Mason, who was close friends with Maxwell during the time she dated Epstein, said that he does not see her ever telling the authorities what she knows about Andrew.

“Prince Andrew and Ghislaine were always fiercely loyal to each other and she wouldn’t give him up,” Mason told The Sun. “I think she’ll still have his back and will protect him to the last.”

“I don’t think U.S. prosecutors would have much of an appetite for shaming a British prince, but his refusal to cooperate with their enquiries may spur their determination to exert maximum pressure on Ghislaine to turn on him,” he added.

Mason, a British journalist based in New York, met Maxwell back in 1989. He said that her connections to powerful men like Andrew made her the perfect match for Epstein, who was a shameless social climber.

“Jeffrey was supremely ambitious but he was never a cocktail party kind of guy,” said Mason. “He was only interested in hanging out with powerful people.”

Though he only met Andrew once, Mason said he was highly aware of Maxwell’s strange friendship with him.

“I met them both on one occasion when they were walking down Madison Avenue, and he told me he was staying at Epstein’s vast New York house,” he said. “It seemed natural that, of course, if Prince Andrew was in New York he would be hanging out with Ghislaine Maxwell because she cultivated powerful and socially prominent people. It was also the perfect instance of the kind of people Jeffrey was hanging out with.”

This comes after Giuffre once again spoke out to accuse Andrew of having sex with her on three occasions, including once when she was an underage 17 year-old.

“Prince Andrew is not the Prince from the fairy-tale stories you read,” she said. “Before he abused me, Ghislaine does this guessing game and he guessed right – I was 17. He compared me to his daughters saying ‘Oh my daughters are a few years younger than you.'”

Andrew has denied ever having had sex with Giuffre. Maxwell was arrested last month on six charges related to her grooming young girls for sex with Epstein, and she has been remanded to a New York City prison pending her trial, which is scheduled for July of 2021.
