Earlier this week, we reported that Sussex Royal, the charity of Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle, had been reported to the authorities for “conflicts of interest.” Now, Harry is firing back in a big way, describing the claims made about his charity as “deeply offensive.”

Sussex Royal was reported to the Charity Commission by the anti-royal campaign group Republic, which claimed that the charity was taking part in the “inappropriate use of charitable funds, conflicts of interest and lack of independence.”

Harry responded through a spokesman who called these claims “salaciously created” and “false”.

“To this point, it is deeply offensive to today see false claims made about the Duke of Sussex and his charitable work. It is both defamatory and insulting to all the outstanding organisations and people he has partnered with,” the spokesman said, according to Sky News.

Lawyers for Harry added that the royal has never had any “personal financial interest” and that all of his charitable work had been “transparent and above board”.

“To suggest otherwise is unequivocally wrong and will be acted upon accordingly with the weight of the law,” they said. “The avenue through which this was publicly and salaciously created only suggests a hunger for media attention as well as a shared and attacking agenda, which is neither right nor just.”
