Virtue signaling is all over the place right now. It’s inescapable. If you don’t come out on your website, Facebook page, Twitter or on TV to tell everyone that you support George Floyd, the protesting of the killing of George Floyd or the oppression of black people, then you are going to be labeled a racist. And you need to do it sooner rather than later.

It’s not enough that YOU know you’re not racist or that you know your company is not racist. You must say it on social media and promise to help the cause. Donating money to social justice organizations is also beneficial to your social media marketing right now.

Everyone and their brother (and sister – I don’t want to be accused of being sexist) has something to say no matter what kind of company it is. The smaller mom-and-pop stores have largely escaped the mob but the corporations and franchises have all realized that they have to make a statement or get hammered, or possibly boycotted, on Twitter.

Most of the major fast food restaurants have had something to say so that their customers don’t go somewhere else to get their burgers and chicken.

The following are tweets from the fast food chains. You can read them and afterwards you will be able buy your food according to who you think is the most woke fast food joint.

McDONALDS: They were one of us: Trayvon Martin. Michael Brown. Alton Sterline. Botham Jean. Atatiana Jefferson. Ahmaud Arbery. George Floyd.

Do you support individual military members being able to opt out of getting the COVID vaccine?

BURGER KING: We stand with you in support of equality and justice for black lives and we will use our platform, our position and our voice to do so. When it comes to people’s lives, there’s only one way to have it. Without discrimination.

TACO BELL: We’re muting our channels for the rest of the week to reflect, learn and listen. Meme: Sometimes silence speaks the loudest. And we won’t let ours speak for us. So let us be clear: We don’t tolerate racism or violence against black people. We’re committed to being part of long-term solutions. And we have more work to do. We’re regrouping on the actions we take next. Because these words are not enough. More to come. We’re listening. Also a link to a letter from the CEO:

KENTUCKY FRIED CHICKEN: We support our black team members, partners and customers. We are committed to using our voice to speak up but more importantly, using this time to listen, learn and act to create positive social change. We have to do more. We will do more.

POPEYES We are nothing without black lives. There’s no room for injustice. We commit to strengthening every facet of our culture and policies to foster an environment where equality for black people is a priority. We’ll use our platform to support this movement. #blacklivesmatter

SUBWAY Our doors are open to all, and we stand against racial injustice of any kind. There are a lot of important voices speaking out right now that need to be heard, so we’re stepping away from social media to ensure that happens.

WENDY’S In the coming days’ we’ll be using our Twitter account to amplify black voices. Because what’s the point of this big platform if we don’t use it for what matters during times like these? (also donated $500K to support social justice, the youth and education in the black community starting with the Thurgood Marshall College Fund).

PAPA JOHNS Our hearts go out to our black employees, communities, and friends. We stand with you against racism and injustice. We will continue to work to drive change.

CHIPOTLE MEXICAN GRILL It’s time to open our purse. Today we are pledging $1 million throughout the year to fight systemic racism, starting with $500K to the National Urban League. Chipotle is rooted in diversity, inclusion and integrity and we vow to be part of the solution.
