Racial and anti-police tensions are at an all-time high in the wake of the death of George Floyd, who died in police custody last month in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Today, so many hearts are warmed by the kind gesture and message from two black women just stepped up to pay for a white police officer’s breakfast, showing that despite everything that has happened, cops still deserve love and respect too.

Sumner County Patrol Deputy Jody McDowell took to Facebook on Tuesday to reveal what happened when he was having breakfast at a Cracker Barrel restaurant in Nashville, Tennessee. “I want to thank the two sweet black ladies who paid for my breakfast this morning,” he wrote on Facebook in a viral post. “While waiting for a transport to be completed, I decided to have breakfast at Cracker Barrel near the Nashville airport. I received this note from them”:

“BLM [Black Lives Matter] but so does yours!” the note read. “Thank you for your service. Breakfast paid.”

The post has quickly gone viral, touching the hearts of social media users all over the world. “Finally there is hope,” one user commented. “This country is losing their minds yet two black women saw a way to do something positive during so much turmoil in our country. I wish I could give these ladies a big hug!”

“Faith in humanity restored! I needed this positive story so badly,” another user added. “Your life DOES matter and thank you for keeping us safe. God bless you and these wonderful women. This made my whole week.”

“THIS is how America should be. What a nice gesture. Folks need to see more things like this, thanks for sharing!” a third user commented, with a fourth writing, “It is the beautiful caring hearts inside, not the color of all of our skins. That was so kind and caring of them.”
