A royal expert is speaking out this week to talk about the incredible amount of pressure that Kate Middleton is facing as the future queen consort.

Kate is married to Prince William, who is second in line for the throne behind his father, Prince Charles. This means that Kate will likely be the queen consort someday, a fate that comes with a lot of pressure for the 38 year-old now.

“Those who know her say there is a real core of strength, and she did set her mind to the job,” Sarah Gristwood, author of “Elizabeth: The Queen and the Crown,” told People magazine. “But at the same time, she’d had to be superhuman not to feel the pressure.”

This comes after a source close to William and Kate said that their workload has increased ever since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped down as senior members of the British royal family.

“Without Meghan and Harry, there is going to be a phenomenal workload on Catherine and William,” the insider said. “None of the older [generations] can do it all. The pressure is on the two of them.”

Tatler magazine recently issued a report claiming that Kate had become “overwhelmed” with her workload in the wake of Harry and Meghan’s departure, causing Kensington Palace to issue a rare statement slamming the story’s “inaccuracies” and threatening to take legal action against the publication. A source close to Kate said that she “certainly would resent someone saying that she is struggling.”

“I can understand why she would feel that is a total misrepresentation of the truth because it really isn’t the case,” the source said. “If anything, she is relishing the role more than ever. And she will do it all to the best of her ability.”

Even so, Kate has a lot on her plate as the future queen consort, as the roles she is expected to carry out include that of a supportive spouse, hands-on mom, charity advocate, relatable royal and style influencer.

“The future queen is a role model to the U.K. but also to the world, which means all eyes are on you,” royal etiquette expert Myka Meier said.

“The added pressure of having cameras everywhere to catch even the slightest eye movement makes everything she does a conscious effort,” she continued. “From the perfectly poised posture to the way she descends a staircase or gets out of a car — it is all carefully done.”
