Queen Elizabeth is reportedly devastated right now after the death of her close friend, the legendary singer Vera Lynn.

Flynn’s representative Susan Fleet told the U.K. Express that the Queen was the first person outside of Flynn’s family to learn the news of her passing, adding that she was “very, very sad” to hear the news. The Queen then reportedly sent a letter of condolence to the 103 year-old icon’s family.

“Her Majesty was very, very sad,” Fleet said. “They sent their deepest condolences to the family.”

This comes just two months after the Queen quoted Flynn’s famous song “We’ll Meet Again” in her coronavirus address to the public.

“We should take comfort that while we may have more still to endure, better days will return,” the Queen said back in April. “We will be with our friends again; we will be with our families again; we will meet again.”

In one of her last interviews, Flynn expressed her excitement over the fact that the Queen had quoted her song.

“I watched the Queen’s speech which was wonderful, but I didn’t know that Her Majesty was going to finish up with the words, ‘We will meet again,'” she said. “I have met the Queen on a number of occasions.nYou have to have something and someone that we can all look up to and rely on in times of trouble, and Her Majesty is that person.”

Flynn went on to talk about her song “We’ll Meet Again,” which was used to inspire soldiers during World War II.

“I think that We’ll Meet Again is such a hopeful song and it still applies today, especially during this crisis when friends and family are apart,” she said. “I think that the spirit of the Blitz is very much here as retired doctors and nurses return to work to help out, which is wonderful of them.”

In the wake of Flynn’s passing, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson paid tribute to her as well.

“Dame Vera Lynn’s charm and magical voice entranced and uplifted our country in some of our darkest hours,” he said. “Her voice will live on to lift the hearts of generations to come.”
