During an appearance on “Good Morning America” on Thursday, country music singer Garth Brooks announced that he will be headlining a concert event at 300 drive-in theaters across America beginning June 27.

“I am so excited to get to play again,” the 58 year-old singer said in a statement, according to Fox News. “This drive-in concert allows us all to get back to playing live music without the uncertainty of what would be the result to us as a community. This is old school, new school, and perfect for the time we are in.”

Tickets are set to go on sale on June 19, and they will cost $100 each for one passenger car or SUV. Only 250-300 tickets are available at each drive-in.

“This one guy came to me and said, ‘Hey, look, we can put 300 drive-in theaters together if you will create a concert solely for the drive-ins. We can have families jump in the car, get them out on Saturday night,'” Brooks said.

“They’re going to run it just like a regular concert, but this is going to be all over North America, one night only,” he added. “We are excited because this is a reason to get out of the house, but at the same time you get to follow all the COVID rules from every individual state and you get to have fun and stay within the guidelines of social distancing … we’re calling it ‘social distancing partying.'”

The event is being put on by production company Encore Live, which has partnered with health officials to ensure proper safety measures are taken amidst the coronavirus pandemic. Guidelines that must be maintained include maintaining at least six feet of distance between vehicles, the use of personal protective equipment by employees, contactless payment and ticketing systems, and limited capacity in restrooms.

“Families need safe entertainment options that they can enjoy together this summer,” explained Walter Kinzie, Encore Live’s founder and chief executive officer. “We’re excited to partner with Garth, who’s already done so much to help the entertainment industry during these tough times, to provide a truly unique and incredible concert that will do a whole lot of good for local businesses and communities.”

Brooks was in the midst of his three-year Stadium Tour as well as his Drive Bar Tour, which involved him performing at smaller American venues, when the COVID-19 pandemic forced him to halt touring.
