Hollywood star Gabrielle Union just spoke out to blast both Simon Cowell and NBC for the way her sudden exit from “America’s Got Talent” was handled as well as how the subsequent probe into her claims of racism was carried out.

Fox News reported that while appearing on “The Daily Show” this week, the 47 year-old actress called out Cowell for allegedly thinking that the rules don’t apply to him, and that he is above the law. Union told host Trevor Noah:

“With ‘AGT,’ trying to work within a system of… I thought it was the easiest show! How hard is it to, you know, watch jugglers? That’s what I thought I signed up for. Day one, you know, Simon Cowell is smoking cigarettes inside. I’ve worked a long time, I’ve worked with all kinds of people, I’ve never experienced that.”

“So, when your boss, the person who has the ability to determine who gets opportunities and who doesn’t, doesn’t believe the law applies to him or the rules apply to him and he does it in full view of NBC, Fremantle and Syco and no one cares about Simon Cowell, you know, exposing all of these employees to second-hand smoke. That’s day one, that’s within the first hour.”

“What message do you think that sends to anyone that has an issue with the very real racism and the lack of accountability?” Union added. “And it goes on and on and on.”

Not stopping there, she went on to discuss NBC’s investigation into her claims of racism on the set of the reality television competition show.

“I decided to participate in this investigation. They’re like ‘we’re going to commission this independent investigation,’” Union said. “Well, silly me, I thought independent was independent, but when NBC and Fremantle and Syco paid for that investigation, they control it.”

After it was announced that she and her fellow judge Julianne Hough would not be returning to “America’s Got Talent” in November of last year, Union spoke out to claim that there was a racist and generally “toxic” work culture on the set of the show. For example, she claimed that certain hairstyle changes she made were rejected as “too black” for “AGT’s” core demographic. Union also alleged that former “Tonight Show” host Jay Leno had made a racially insensitive joke about a contestant.

“I participated in this investigation, and the investigation was ongoing, they turn over what they believe to be inflammatory things or things that are not advantageous to me, over to the head of NBC, Paul Telegdy, who then uses those things that he thinks are like smoking guns to shoot down my claims,” Union told Noah. “He then threatens my agent, ‘Gabrielle better watch who she calls a racist.’ In the middle of an investigation about racism and discrimination? This is what’s happening from the top of the company.”

After the investigation found no evidence of wrongdoing, Union filed a harassment and discrimination in the state of California against her former employers. Both Cowell and NBC have yet to comment on the latest allegations Union made in this interview.
