Fans of the boy band Dream Street are in mourning this week after the death of Chris Trousdale, who was only 34 years-old when he passed away a few days ago.
It has since been reported that he died due to complications from COVID-19.
“It is with a heavy heart that we confirm the passing of Chris Trousdale on June, 2, 2020 from an undisclosed illness,” a rep for Trousdale told Fox News.
“He was a light to so many and will be missed dearly by his family, friends and fans all over the world.”
“Although it felt like he belonged to us all, the family is requesting that you respect their privacy at this time of grieving,” the rep added.
“Should you wish to make a donation in his honor, please give to ASPCA.”
The U.K. Independent reported that a family member of Trousdale’s had said that he died due to complications from coronavirus.
Trousdale joined the popular boy band in 1999 with his fellow music stars Jesse McCartney, Greg Raposo, Matt Ballinger and Frankie Galasso.
They went on to break up in 2002 after releasing two albums, with their top hit songs being “It Happens Every Time,” “I Say Yeah” and “Sugar Rush.”
Trousdale went on to launch a successful career in Hollywood, making appearances in Disney Channel’s “Shake It Up” and the soap opera “Days of Our Lives.”
He also auditioned for the NBC reality television competition “The Voice.”
McCartney, Trousdale’s former bandmate, took to Instagram to pay tribute to him.
“It pains me to say that an old friend, Chris Trousdale, from my early days in the music industry has passed away due to complications from Covid-19,” McCartney said.
“Chris, in my opinion, was the most popular among us, who had a way of drawing every eye to what he was doing on stage,” he continued.
“As an incredibly trained dancer, he would pick up an entire dance number in a matter of minutes; something that would take the rest of us days… My deepest sympathies go out to his mother whom I know cherished him dearly. RIP Chris. I’ll never forget your smile.”
