Comedian and actor D.L. Hughley has just revealed that he tested positive for COVID-19 days after he collapsed onstage while performing in Nashville, Tennessee on Friday night.

“I was what they call asymptomatic,” Hughley said in a video that he posted to his Twitter page. “I didn’t have any symptoms, the classic symptoms.”

The 57 year-old comedian went on to say that he has yet to experience any of the typical coronavirus symptoms, including shortness of breath and fever.

“So, in addition to all the other stuff you have to look out for,” Hughley told his fans in the video, adding that if you “pass out in the middle of a show, onstage, you probably need to get tested.”

He concluded by saying that he plans to quarantine in his hotel room in Nashville for the next fourteen days.

Fox News reported that this comes after Hughley collapsed while performing to a sold out crowd at Zanies Comedy Club, much to their shock and horror. All seemed to be going well until Hughley suddenly seemed to have trouble speaking, and he then just went limp.

Hughley’s manager was able to rush onstage and catch him before he fell off his seat completely, but he needed help getting the comedian off the stage.

Hughley was taken out of the club in a stretcher and rushed to the hospital in an ambulance. Nobody in the audience was told what had happened, leading to even more confusion surrounding the situation.

The comedian’s manager said afterwards in a statement that he was “suffering from exhaustion after all the week’s work and travel, and was kept overnight at the hospital for tests under doctor’s orders. He is awake and feeling better, and wishes to thank everyone for the very kind prayer and thoughts.”

Hughley had been scheduled to perform two more shows in Nashville, but they have already been cancelled. Meanwhile, the coronavirus pandemic has infected millions of people all over the world, with the current death toll being at 465,000.
