Hollywood star Cate Blanchett has just revealed that her experience in lockdown just took a turn for the worse when she was left with a head injury after an accident involving a chainsaw.
Fox News reported that Blanchett has been quarantining in England with her husband and their four children, and last week, she joined former Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard on her podcast. There, Blanchett was asked how she has spent her time in quarantine amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, and it was then that she revealed her harrowing accident.
“I had a bit of a chainsaw accident yesterday which sounds very, very exciting but it wasn’t,” said Blanchett, 51. “Apart from the little nick to my head, we’re fine.”
“Be very careful with that chainsaw. You’ve got a very famous head,” Gillard replied. “I don’t think they will want to see any nicks taken out of it.”
“I know I want to keep it on my shoulders!” Blanchett said as she began to laugh.
The two-time Academy Award winner did not reveal exactly what she was doing with a chainsaw at the time of the accident. We can only imagine what her reason for using such a dangerous tool could have been!

Blanchett went on to say that she had taken the year off to help her oldest son with his schoolwork before joking that she has been “left with an 18-year-old who doesn’t want really to have anything to do with me!” She added that like many other people, life is “a little bit discombobulating” at the moment, but she acknowledges that for her it’s a “high-class problem.”
The actress said that playing teacher to her children, as she has transitioned to “being a kindergarten teacher” to her 5-year-old, has caused her to think more about the importance of teachers and how much they should be paid. She applauded Finland for paying teachers “the same as lawyers and doctors,” and she hopes other countries will do the same when this is all over.
“I have a huge respect for the teaching profession,” Blanchett said. “I hope out of this that teachers’ wages will be increased and their respect will be amplified by COVID-19.”
