Fans of comedic actor Bill Murray are in shock today after it was reported that his son has been arrested for arson and assault and battery against a police officer.

Murray’s 27 year-old son Caleb was arrested in Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts on Monday after participating in a Black Lives Matter march there. His arrest report, which was obtained by Page Six, states that he allegedly got into an altercation with police officers who were responding to an incident that occurred during the protest.

This incident was a confrontation that broke out between protesters and local resident Eric Woods, who has been accused of using the N-word before allegedly punching a teenager in the crowd. A video posted to YouTube shows Woods sitting in his truck surrounded by those who are protesting, and police are seen shortly thereafter arresting Caleb and forcing him to the ground.

As he was transported to the Dukes County Jail after his arrest, Caleb allegedly became uncooperative, and the report claims that things got even worse once he was in his cell.

“After being put into a cell, he then used a piece of the cell to not only cut himself but cut the deputies,” the report alleges.

One officer claimed to hear Caleb say “that once he got out of jail he was going to burn down all the f–king buildings.”

Caleb has since been charged with disorderly conduct, assault and battery on a police officer, threatening to commit a crime and one count of arson. He was arraigned on Tuesday in an emergency session in which a judge ordered him to be held without bail until a bed is available at an evaluation facility. He is due to appear in court again on July 31.

Caleb is Murray’s oldest son from his second marriage to Jennifer Butler, who he had four sons with before they divorced back in 2008. The actor, known for his roles in movies like Tootsie and Lost In Translation, has yet to comment on his son’s arrest.

Tensions are at an all-time high in America right now as riots continue to spread across the country over the death of George Floyd, who died in police custody last week in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
