With Father’s Day coming up this weekend, the three children of beloved “Jeopardy!” host Alex Trebek are opening up about just how much they love their dad.

Fox News reported that Trebek’s wife Jean recently penned a blog post in which she wrote about having dinner with their two children – Emily and Matthew – as well as Nicky, the host’s daughter from a previous marriage. During the meal, Jean asked the three what their favorite memory is of their 79 year-old father.

“My favorite memory would be all of the times we spent at our Lake House in Paso Robles,” Emily said. “My dad would be on the jet ski and would take us for rides in the inner-tube.”

Matthew said that he would always remember when Trebek gifted him with a cross “that he wore when he was a young man, and although I’m not religious, it meant a lot to me.”

As for Nicky, who works with her father on “Jeopardy,” she said that “he’s really good at his profession. The best in the business. People don’t really understand what it takes to do what he does.”

Emily agreed, going on to say that Trebek is handy around the house and will “be over within the hour” whenever she has an issue in her home. When asked what their dad’s personality is like, the trio used words like “determination,” “persistence” and “generosity.”

“I personally experienced him writing hundreds of thousands of thank you notes while he battled for his life,” Nicky said, referring to Trebek’s fight with Stage IV pancreatic cancer. “It’s truly astounding. I honestly can’t even put it into words.”

“It feels to me like our little family was meant to be,” Jean wrote in her post. “The stars all were aligned to bring together such unique personalities which deeply support and respect each other. What’s interesting for me to witness, is that they each have had their own unique experiences with Alex and that really reflects back different perspectives on the man I married.”

This comes after Trebek said through a rep that he is “looking forward” to resuming filming of “Jeopardy!” once the show can return from the hiatus it was forced to take due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This has been a celebratory year for the host, who told fans back in March, “The one-year survival rate for stage 4 pancreatic cancer patients is 18 percent. I’m very happy to report I have just reached that marker.”

Trebek has been hosting “Jeopardy!” since 1984, and he has frequently said that he has no plans to retire.
