Fox News reported that her cause of death has not yet been revealed at the time of this writing.
Born in 1997 in Yokohoma, Japan, Kimura entered the world of wrestling back in 2015 at Wrestle-1 before making her professional wrestling debut the next year in March of 2016. Last July, she won her first big title when she came away with the victory at the JWP Junior Championship.
She later joined the Netflix reality television show “Terrace House,” which follows six strangers sharing a house in Tokyo, Japan while looking for love. It premiered last year and garnered quite a fanbase. ,
BBC reported that fears for Kimura had grown in the hours before her death after she posted images of self-harm on social media.
“I don’t want to be a human anymore,” she reportedly wrote. “It was a life I wanted to be loved. Thank you everyone, I love you. Bye.”
It has since been revealed that Kimura was struggling with hate she was receiving online from cyberbullies.
“It absolutely breaks my heart how cruel people can be on social media,” said Impact World Champion Tessa Blanchard. “It was an amazing honor to know Hana Kimura. She was an amazing girl with the kindest soul and immense passion and work ethic.”
“I hope this serves as a reminder that interactions on social media can have a serious effect on the mental health of anyone, no matter who they are,” added wrestling journalist Adam Pacitti.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Kimura’s family and friends.
