The wife of singer Michael Buble spoke out this week to say that her husband received death threats after a video went viral last month that appeared to show him elbowing her, causing allegations of abuse to spread like wildfire.

Fox News reported that back in April, Buble was making an Instagram live video with his wife Luisiana Lopilato when he appeared to nudge her with his elbow, a move that caused fans to accuse him of being “aggressive” and “abusive.”

The video quickly went viral, with fans digging up other examples they found that they claim show Buble being violent towards Lopilato, an actress from Argentina.

The backlash continued despite the fact that Lopilato vehemently denied from the beginning that Buble had ever been abusive towards her.

While appearing on the Argentinian television show “Intros” this week, Lopilato opened up about how this backlash affected her family’s lives, even admitting that Buble had received death threats.

“It made me afraid, and I still feel a little bit frightened,” Lopilato said, adding that she has become “worried for her family,” which includes their three children Noah, 6, Elias, 4, and Vida, 22 months.

“We received a lot of love from people, but you wouldn’t believe the amount of people who sent me photos with weapons saying they were going to kill Mike when he reached Argentina,” Lopilato continued, explaining that threats ranged from “photos of knives” to a plot to “cut off” Buble’s fingers, to even so far as bomb threats.

Lopilato had taken to Instagram right at the beginning of the scandal to defend Buble from the backlash.

“It’s amazing how some human beings are!! While we go through this pandemic, and live moments of lockdown, distress, fear, loneliness, uncertainties of all kinds!” she said.

“Every day we go out with my husband to do alive (sic) to bring them some joy, entertainment, longing, and we have to endure to hear and see what malicious people post who come out to talk anything and without knowing anything about our family.”

“I want you to know that I have no doubts who my husband is and I would choose him one and a thousand times more!!” she wrote, going on to claim that one unnamed social media user had been “taking advantage of this pandemic” to gain fame and followers. Lopilato concluded by dismissing rumors of the abuse as “lies.”

“Without more to say and doing what I think is right when they mess with my family, I leave the consequences for God!

The world needs right now more than ever ‘love, hope, values, unity and solidarity.’ NOT these kind of people,” she concluded.
