Earlier this week, disgraced “Today” show host Matt Lauer shocked everyone when he resurfaced to pen a scathing oped in which he blasted journalist Ronan Farrow for reporting the rape claims made against him. Now, Lauer has shocked everyone once again, as it’s been revealed that he got a huge forearm tattoo with a quote about “hatred” from the eulogy of George H.W. Bush.

Page Six reported that one day after his op-ed was published, Lauer was photographed driving in Noyack, New York, and images clearly show a large quote tattooed on his arm. The quote reads, “Hatred corrodes the container it is carried in.”

This quote was said by former Senator Alan Simpson (R-WY) at the 2018 funeral of George H.W. Bush.

“You would have wanted [Bush] on your side,” Smith said. “He never hated anyone. He knew what his mother and my mother always knew: Hatred corrodes the container it’s carried in. The most decent and honorable man I ever met was my friend George Bush.”

Lauer getting this quote tattooed on himself seems a bit ironic given the fact that he unleashed quite a bit of “hatred” on Farrow this week, slamming him for the claims he made against him in his book “Catch And Kill.”

“What I found when I read the book was frankly shocking, and it should concern anyone who cares about journalism,” Lauer wrote in the op-ed for Mediate. “This is not just about accusations against the former host of the ‘Today’ show. It’s about whether changing social attitudes can be allowed to change the most fundamental rules of journalism.”

Last October, Lauer was accused of rape by former “Today” producer Brooke Nevils, who claims he sexually assaulted her in Sochi, Russia back in 2014 during the Winter Olympics. Lauer claims that he never raped her, and that they engaged in a consensual sexual relationship.

“I am sorry for the way I conducted myself,” Lauer wrote in his op-ed. “I made some terrible decisions, and I betrayed the trust of many people … On October 9, 2019, I was falsely accused of rape. I am not suggesting that everything Ronan has written in his book is untrue or based on misinformation, but it is clear that over the course of nearly two years he became a magnet and a willing ear for anyone with negative stories about the network and people who worked for it.”
