House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) and Democrats among that ilk have a mission. They realize that if the economy recovers in the third quarter of 2020 then President Donald Trump will get the credit. So, in the advancement of their politics before people ethos, they and their cohorts are actively working to keep any economic recovery at bay, while doing all they can to slip their pet schemes and projects into virus stimulus legislation.

It is a truism in politics and government in America that Democrats in the attack benefit from a bad economy— actually, both parties do. Like Reagan in 1980, it let’s the non-executive power party use the state of the economy to bring down an incumbent administration. Reagan used it against Carter, as noted, and Bill Clinton used it against George Bush the Elder in 1992. It so happens this year the incumbent is a Republican.

But seldom before (the years of the Spanish flu come to mind) has an election year been held under a public health threat and never under the kind of severe government overreach at all levels that this pandemic produced. As most know, certainly the president is aware of it as he has said it numerous times, the economy was doing spectacularly well in the time immediately preceding the outbreak in this country of coronavirus.

The virus itself, with the active aid of the Chinese —a government composed of men who think in decades, not in weeks— has been a godsend to the Democrats. Public spending, their main reason for existence, has come to unprecedented levels, even to surpass the New Deal of Democrat Franklin Roosevelt and the Great Society of Democrat Lyndon Johnson.

Authoritarian policies designed to limit freedom of speech, stifle freedom of assembly, and gut gun rights have been passed (or mandated by executive authority) by Democrats like Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer and Virginia Governor Ralph Northam. Those are also Democrat priorities in this PC age. However, polls still persistently show the president holding his own in the battleground states he must win for victory in the general election.

It is of scant concern to the Democrats that lives and businesses will be affected by their drive to keep the U.S. economy in first gear and slowing. Knowing people who are desperate or destitute may look to government programs the Democrats champion as a drug to soothe their anxieties and destroy their work ethic, the Democrats have for some time banked on the votes of those who are at the bottom rung of the economic ladder. It is in the best political interest of that party (and they know it) for those people to stay there.

That way the state, government officials, and the various income redistribution bureaucracies can control the very sustenance of many Americans and hold them political hostage into perpetuity. One only need examine the voting patterns and the economic status of many U.S. urban centers to exemplify this proposition.

So the Democrats and Joe Biden need a bad economy and few available jobs to win in November. The rest of the nation needs jobs and an economic rebirth to get on with their lives and recover from government bumbling of the virus crisis. Once again, as is usual, the needs of the Democrats are in direct opposition to the needs of America.
