The cast of the iconic “Back To The Future” movie series held a virtual reunion this week to give their fans something to smile about as millions of us remain in quarantine amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

Fox News reported that stars including Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd and Lea Thompson reunited on Zoom to talk about the legendary 1980s film franchise and to read some of the most famous lines from it.

The cast was gathered together by Frozen star Josh Gad for his internet series, “Reunited Apart,” which holds virtual reunions for casts from famous movies. Others who attended this reunion included Mary Steenburgen, Elisabeth Shue, musician Huey Lewis, composer Alan Silvestri, writer Bob Gale and director Robert Zemecki.

The reunion opened with Gad telling Lloyd, 81, to take him on a trip down “memory road.”

“Road?” Lloyd asked, without missing a beat. “Where we’re going, we don’t need roads.”

Fox, 58, was the next to join the Zoom call, reenacting the lines from the scene in which his character of Marty McFly realized that his own mother had developed feelings for him when he travelled back in time to her high school in the 1950s.

“Wait a minute, doc, are you trying to tell me my mom has the hots for me?” said Fox, to which Lloyd responded, “Precisely.”

“Whoa, this is heavy,” Fox replied.

Thompson, who played Fox’s mother, then signed on to the call herself.

As more and more people joined the call, the cast and crew told stories from their days filming the three movies, including one particularly harrowing tale about filming on a runaway train. Director and superfan J.J. Abrams eventually joined the call as well, asking what name Universal suggested for the film before it settled on “Back to the Future.”

“Spaceman from Pluto,” Thompson replied.

Gad later asked the group what idea they would pitch for a hypothetical sequel to the movies. The best response came from Thompson, who joked, “I’d like to go back to January, so they could warn us about coronavirus.”

Gale chimed in to say that the sequel could feature Marty McFly on a quest to stop another “Back to the Future” film from being made.

The reunion came to an end with a montage of grateful fans performing “The Power of Love,” Lewis’ song that is featured in the first movie. In a time when millions of people are struggling, we applaud the cast of “Back To The Future” for taking the time to do something that would bring smiles to their fans faces!
