Things are starting to get way out of hand.
We’ve gone from “stay 6 feet away from people” to “stay locked in your house or you’ll be arrested” in like .5 seconds.
Case in point – a paddleboarder – who was on the ocean literally out in the middle of nowhere without a soul around – was arrested in Malibu on Thursday for “violating” social distancing rules, authorities said.
Lifeguards who spotted the man flagged down deputies for assistance.
The paddleboarder refused to come in so authorities went and got him with a boat.

He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of disobeying a lifeguard and violating Gov. Gavin Newsom’s stay at home order, a misdemeanor.
He was booked at the sheriff’s station in Calabasas before being released with a notice to appear in court, deputies said.
Officials did not release any identifying information on the man. He could face a $1,000 fine, up to six months in jail, or both.
So far, the state order has not been widely enforced by police agencies, but this isn’t the first time this week a Southern California man has faced consequences for being in the ocean.
According to the Los Angeles Times, a surfer in Manhattan Beach was fined $1,000 last weekend after similarly ignoring repeated orders to exit the ocean. [KTLA]

I’ve often wondered – why is it that people can stand in lines 100-200 people deep like a bunch of sardines in a can outside of a grocery store for an hour, but I’m not allowed to sit 6 feet away from someone in a pew at church and pray for 30 minutes?
