The Chinese epicenter of the black plague of doom, Wuhan, just lost 65,000 people in a matter of minutes.

Well, maybe not minutes, but after 76 days of a government-imposed lockdown, a horde of people just high-tailed it out of dodge in one gigantic swoop.

Thousands of people wearing masks — some in full protective gear — scrambled to leave Wuhan as the city lifted its more than two-month-long lockdown amid the coronavirus crisis.

Within hours of the lockdown ending, about 65,000 people had left the city by train and plane alone, according to local media.

About 1,000 vehicles went through a busy highway toll booth at Wuhan’s border between midnight — when authorities first lifted the barricades — and 7 a.m, according to Yan Xiangsheng, a district police chief. [New York Post]

One very troubling public scene involved some groups singing revolutionary songs like, “Without the Communist Party There Would Be No New China.”

Yes, and there would likely be no “Coronavirus” either. 

Nurses were embracing each other, some in tears.

Wuhan’s schools are still closed, and temperatures are still being checked when people enter buildings and masks are strongly encouraged.
