Whenever Hollywood is acting like a bunch of out-of-touch idiots, you can always count on Ricky Gervais to keep it real and rip them a new one with a scathing statement.
Some of Hollywood has been complaining about COVID-19 and their struggles with quarantine, all while they sit in their mansions with luxuries most Americans couldn’t even imagine.
Which is exacting what Gervais smeared in their smug faces during a recent interview:
“These people are doing 14-hour shifts and not complaining. Wearing masks, and being left with sores, after risking their own health and their families’ health selflessly,” Gervais said in an exclusive interview with the Sun. “But then I see someone complaining about being in a mansion with a swimming pool. And, you know, honestly, I just don’t want to hear it.”
Gervais went on to discuss his modest upbringing, which instilled a strong work ethic in him from a young age.
“I was born in the beginning of the 60s in Battle Hospital in Reading,” he said. “And that should have been an omen. Having gone by the title, I should have known life was going to be a struggle. And it was — I was the fourth child of an immigrant laborer. My dad worked on building sites all his life, until he was 70. He got up every day at 5:30 a.m.”
Celebrities such as Ellen DeGeneres, Kelly Ripa, Sam Smith, and others have posted viral complaints about life under quarantine, with some even breaking down in tears, according to Page Six. [Washington Examiner]
If only more of Hollywood were like Gervais…
Maybe their movies would get more sales.
