The whole state should not open at once. That’s my view nationwide whenever a state decides to slowly open up businesses and force employees who are worried about contracting COVID-19 back into unsafe environments.
Different counties should open slowly based on both population density and infection rates, not statewide.
Quinnipiac University, one of the polling firms that Pres. Trump uses during his rallies released a stunning set of numbers that found 72 percent of those polled claimed they aren’t ready for Florida to relax social distancing as we move into May, next week.

The vast majority of Floridians don’t want the state’s social distancing rules – enacted to prevent the spread of the coronavirus pandemic – to be loosened at the end of April, according to a new poll.
The survey by Quinnipiac University was conducted before and released the day after Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis declared on Tuesday in an appearance on “Fox and Friends” that his state “has flattened the curve” without “draconian orders” like other states.
The state’s first-term Republican governor – a major supporter of President Trump — issued a statewide stay-at-home order earlier this month and was one of the last governors to do so.
Now DeSantis is anxious to reopen the economy in his state – which like the rest of the nation has been devastated as most Americans huddle in their homes. [Fox News]

We need to acknowledge that, just as in the community at large, some of our political leaders may suffer from emotional stress during this time and make unsound decisions. I think we need to discuss what we can do about that.

Many Republicans disagree with the polling. They feel the results are tainted as they don’t believe in the results of COVID-19 in the first place. With that said, people can make social distancing without a mandate; it is fine for you to stay six feet away from someone at the store, if you want to stay at home, you can do that as well if you’re going to go to the hardware store wearing or not wearing a mask, this doesn’t identify if people want to be “locked down” or social distance, you can do one without the other!

Responses from various comment boards:
They need to do th poll over. Ask legitimate citizens from all walks of life in Florida, not just a few they know. These polls are bogus and little more than money-making schemes with pre-determined outcomes based on who is paying. I did a poll yesterday, called a couple of people and the results were the exact opposite – end social distancing in public situations. – Riley1961
Polls are crap….. Who doesn’t remember the year leading up to the 2016 election? The Polls were all WRONG, and just designed to influence public opinion. Everybody wants to be on the winning side. – buckroy
YOu dont want to be around people, then dont be. Stay home but dont dictate to other people. – Gothel529
Poll? Totally wrong as everyone down here is out and about every day walking, riding bikes, playing golf (at least where I am in SWF), publix, sams club, post office, etc all open since day one. Data Scientist, Charles Wiles, studied Wuhan Flu infection rates and found the higher the temperature and humidity the slower the rate of infection occurred. Today it was 91° and 70% humidity and will be like that all week. – FightCensors
We have choices still. I don’t care if we open up or not. I don’t have to be surrounded by crowds of people until I want to be. I will choose to avoid them. I can avoid the barber shop. Just because places may open, it doesn’t require that I patronize those establishments. Lockdown ends when you decide it ends. – JasonWho
Floridian’s were sparred from that loser DEM governorship candidate…who would have caved under the pressure of this pandemic and would have instead check himself into a hotel with a gay drug addict to use cocaine and who knows what else to help him cope with the political pressures. – KeepAmericaGreat
