The Democrats and the mainstream media, working in tandem as usual, have charged the Trump administration with malfeasance on the virus response. They claim President Trump was briefed on the virus by Intelligence analysts as early as last November but failed to act.
However, the facts refute their story.
ABC claimed, “The timeline of the intel side of this may be further back than we’re discussing…This was definitely being briefed beginning at the end of November as something the military needed to take a posture on.”
But on Wednesday a Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA-the Pentagon’s Intelligence branch) official said that intel assessment did not exist.
In their report ABC News cited anonymous personnel with the military’s National Center for Medical Intelligence (NCMI). They supposedly raised an alarm over the virus. Col. R. Shane Day, the director of the NCMI, a component of the DIA, discounted the ABC News story in a statement.
“As a matter of practice the National Center for Medical Intelligence does not comment publicly on specific intelligence matters. However, in the interest of transparency during this current public health crisis, we can confirm that media reporting about the existence/release of a National Center for Medical Intelligence Coronavirus-related product/assessment in November of 2019 is not correct. No such NCMI product exists.”
This is an example of a practice the president has mentioned as of late. The ABC “sources” were likely made up. The vehemence of the media’s hatred for the president is obvious. ABC is no exception. The two factors make an interesting combo. To cover up their possible false charges, the press comes up with convenient unnamed sources. If they are called on it, they cite protections under the First Amendment.
No sane person is calling for the media to give up their sources. But factor the unnamed sources in with the pathological hatred of the president and the scenario is ripe for at least suspicion. And probably, much more than that.
