Easter Sunday marked another major drop in the number of new cases of Covid-19 in Michigan. In fact, with just 645 new cases statewide it is the lowest number of new cases of coronavirus since March 26th. It is a 47% drop from the day before. It marks the trend I have been explaining to you and highlighting for almost 2-weeks now.

Despite the pattern becoming, Governor Gretchen Whitmer defied Republicans and business owners across the state were calling for an easing on work and travel restrictions and instead implemented some of the harshest rules and penalties in the nation on April 9th. Her latest Stay at Home Order extended the statewide lockdown and expanded the list of things that are not going to be allowed.

Violating Whitmer’s latest iron-fisted order can get you $1,000 fine and time in jail. Ironic, considering hundreds of inmates from around Michigan have been released to prevent the spread of the virus.

In fact, the Governor banned gardening, home improvement projects or even visiting your own cottage until at least May 1st. The order however lets out of stators travel freely to any property they own in Michigan. Buying instant lottery tickets however is still just fine, go figure. I guess she needs the cash.

Here is the real kicker; the real test for this pandemic and how devastating it is, would be the number of excess deaths created during the outbreak. Amazingly instead of increasing- the number of deaths in Michigan are falling.

Brand new numbers show a stunning drop in the number of people who have died in Michigan in March of 2020 compared to the last 5 years.

This year the state recorded just 5,929 deaths in March compared to the average from 2015 to 2019 of 8,542. That is a drop of 31% from the 5-year average.

What happened?

Violent crimes and the number of car accidents have also plummeted during the recently updated and controversial Stay at Home Order issued by Governor Gretchen Whitmer. Plus, the number of deaths attributed to Covid-19 have been far less than the failed models and Governor predicted.

On March 23rd when issuing her first Stay at Home Order, Whitmer gravely predicted 7 million Michigan residents would fall ill to Covid-19 and 1 million would need to be hospitalized. Instead, emergency field hospitals are now being scaled back and by the end of the week may well be closed.

Expect the Governor to take credit for stopping the spread of the virus, but if you also think social distancing is the reason for the rapid decline in cases and deaths, you may want to reconsider that as well. There is a growing body of evidence worldwide that lockdowns actually added to illness and death. Look at this study.

It’s become quite clear, Governor Whitmer needs to re-visit her Stay at Home Order quickly and tone it down dramatically before the real damage of Covid-19 is here to stay. That damage of course is the legacy of more than 1 million jobs lost in Michigan. Plus the deadly increases of domestic violence, child abuse, alcoholism, drug abuse and suicide will take a terrible toll.

It is time to trust Michigan residents and frankly Americans in general to keep themselves safe and healthy. Its time for several governors to reexamine the numbers and realize we need to go a different direction.

It is time to turn on the ‘Open’ sign and fire things back up. The numbers don’t lie. We have reached the peak and we are on the backside of this Covid-19 Pandemic.

It is time to act accordingly. Join me in The No Panic Zone so we can roll up our sleeves and get back to work!
