Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer has provided another jaw dropping moment from her perch high atop the mountain looking down on the peasants in Michigan.

Whitmer who has unleashed economic disaster in many parts of Michigan with the harshest Covid-19 lockdowns found anywhere in the nation is now rewarding those that she calls ‘essential’ with free college.

In a thinly veiled attempt to start buying votes for the November Election and her bid for a second term in 2022, Whitmer ponied up a plan to give free college tuition to those she calls essential frontline workers.

Just so you understand, Whitmer decided who was essential and who wasn’t during her overreaching shutdowns of businesses statewide in Michigan. Her decisions were so arbitrary that she ordered stores to close off certain aisles that offered items such as paint or flooring. This is the kind of dedicated science she is applying to her decisions.

The Governor also banned people from using boats with motors as if families that have been confined to their home together will somehow become infinitely more at risk through combustion . She finally gave her blessing to golf courses but disallowed the use of a golf cart, those are still banned. Again, science must clearly show that golf carts are a focus of viral infection and clearly cannot be cleaned appropriately.

Her decisions based on whim and clearly not reason have done considerable damage, some of it irreversible to companies and their employees. Despite the clear evidence that Michigan reached it’s Covid-19 peak weeks ago, the Governor is not letting up.

When do you think the country should re-open and get back to work?

On Wednesday, she made clear her power is not to be challenged. “I’m not going to engage in political negotiations with anybody. We don’t have time for politics and games when people’s lives are on the line,” Whitmer declared and added, “I’m gonna make decisions not based on negotiations but based on facts and science and data and risk.”

Governor Whitmer was letting the legislature know they are completely irrelevant in determining the future of Michigan. In fact, if asked I am sure the Governor would tell you those lawmakers are certainly not essential.

However, she is likely too busy pandering for votes and offering free college to her chosen ones.

You should know that the Governor, whose actions in shutting down the economy far too hard and far too long offered no price tag on her free college scheme. She didn’t offer any way to pay for it either. After-all her lockdowns have cost the state at least $5-$7 Billion dollars in annual revenue already. What’s a few more billion amongst friends?

We are about one more power trip away from having a full-blown Michigan depression.
