German “tactical police units,” according to the Associated Press, arrested four alleged ISIS terrorists suspected of planning to attack U.S. military bases in Germany. Police had previously arrested the leader of the suspected terrorists. Identified as Ravsan B., the cell leader has been incarcerated since March 2019. The Epoch Times reported, “the group had obtained guns and ammunition and had ordered parts for a homemade bomb on the Internet.”

Reportedly, in 2019, the five suspected terrorists had pledged their loyalty to ISIS. German police report the group had ISIS contacts in the upper echelons of the terrorist organization. These connections were apparently issuing the cell their orders to commit mayhem.

German authorities report the cell members had originally intended to return to their home country, Tajikistan. There they wished to unite with a violent jihadist anti-government faction. That plan scrapped, the five remained in Germany and instead targeted U.S. military bases. German prosecutors reported the cell had scouted a U.S. Air Force base and were tracking a person they felt had disparaged Islam and had targeted him for murder.

The U.S. military has more troops stationed in Germany than in any other European country. Of the approximately 38,000 troops, about 9,600 are stationed at two Air Force bases in North Rhine-Westphalia. This is the state in the west of Germany where police arrested the suspected terrorists.

Germany has had a controversial “open door” immigration policy promoted and defended by Chancellor Angela Merkel. While there is no information reported on how these suspects immigrated into Germany, they are proof that at least some terrorists are getting into the country. Although, with the spread of the CCP virus, Germany has recently tightened its borders.

With world news dominated by ominous stories surrounding the CCP virus pandemic, isn’t it refreshing to read about some splendid news like this successful police operation? This also shows how, around the world, police officers are still working to help keep their communities safe from criminals, including terrorists. We and the American soldiers and airmen who might have been killed or wounded if these evil men had carried out their diabolical scheme will never know those officers’ names.

But though their identities must be kept secret for obvious reasons, those German cops who thwarted the attack know who they are. And, despite the social distancing protocols we’re currently tolerating, once they’re dropped, America owes those German police officers an enormous national hug.
