Presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden said on Monday that he would take Michelle Obama as his Vice President “in a heartbeat.”

CBS Local reported that Biden told reporters on Monday that he would definitely ask Michelle to be his running mate if he thought she would accept the position.

“I’d take her in a heartbeat,” Biden said on Monday. “She’s brilliant. She knows the way around. She is a really fine woman. The Obamas are great friends.”

“I don’t think she has any desire to live near the White House again,” he added.

Biden went on to say that he is still early on in the process of choosing a running mate.

“In terms of who to pick, we’re just beginning the process,” Biden said. “We’ll shortly name the committee to review this and begin to look through the backgrounds of the various potential nominees. And that’s just getting underway.”

He also said that while he has committed to naming a female running mate, he can’t yet say if it will be a woman of color.

“I’ll commit to that be a woman because it is very important that my administration look like the public, look like the nation. And there will be, committed that there will be a woman of color on the Supreme Court, that doesn’t mean there won’t be a vice president, as well,” Biden said. “I think it’s really important now that we establish once and for all, we should have had a woman president already, in Hilary (Clinton), in my view. There are a number of qualified women out there.”

Calls have been growing as of late for Biden to name Michelle as his vice president, as many think she would be a lock to give Democrats the win. This comes after there were mass calls from the left for Michelle to run for president, but she shot them all down by saying she has no interest in running for office.

“Just between us, and the readers of this magazine — there’s zero chance,” Michelle told The National about the chances that she’d run for president. “There are so many ways to improve this country and build a better world, and I keep doing plenty of them, from working with young people to helping families lead healthier lives. But sitting behind the desk in the Oval Office will never be one of them. It’s just not for me.”
