Iranian-backed militias (PMF) in Iraq once again fired rockets at Taji military base in Iraq where U.S. and coalition forces are based. This is the second attack in a short period of time. The last one killed 2 American servicemen and a British Soldier. Today’s attack injured a hand full of people.
The U.S.-led coalition said at least 25 107mm rockets struck Camp Taji just before 11 a.m. Some struck the area where coalition forces are based, while others fell on air defense units, the Iraqi military statement said, reported Associated Press.
Five people were wounded in the attack including three coalition members and two Iraqi soldiers, according to spokesman for the U.S.-led coalition Myles Caggins. One U.S. defense official said the wounded coalition troops are American. The official spoke on condition of anonymity in line with regulations.
American air forces struck PMF targets late last week in a response to the initial attack. Today DOD representatives said to expect more of the same.
