In a stunning display of Gotcha! journalism with which we’ve become all too familiar and accustomed to in the era of the Trump administration, Comcast reporter Peter Alexander actually asked the president, “Is it possible that your impulse to put a positive spin on things may give Americans a false sense of hope?” This query stemmed from new therapeutic medications the president announced would be available immediately.

This exchange occurred after President Trump answered Alexander’s initial question about the drugs and was explicitly clear about the possibility of success or not: “We will see what happens. We going be talking to the governors about it, and the FDA is working on it now. The advantage is it has been prescribed —for a totally different problem— but it has been prescribed for many years and everybody knows the levels of— the negatives and positives. But I will say that I am a man that comes from a very positive school. We will see how it works out, Peter. I am not saying it will, but I think people may be surprised. It will be a game changer.”

The president addressed the issue again in his typical way, at length, after Alexander’s question. But again, Alexander asked this question: “What do you say to Americans that are scared? Nearly 200 dead. And millions are scared. What do you say to Americans watching right now who are scared?

Alexander’s continued attack after an entire briefing intended to address American’s fears prompted this response from President Trump: “I say that you are a terrible reporter. That is what I say. I think you had a nasty question. It is a bad signal you are putting out to the American people. The American people are looking for answers and hope. You are doing sensationalism, the same with NBC and Comcast. I do not call it Comcast, I call it Concast. Let me say something. That is really bad reporting. You oughta get back to reporting instead of sensationalism. Let’s see if it works. It might and it might not. I happen to feel good about it.”

Of course, the other media outlets who like to spew Chinese Communist Party disinformation (CNN) picked up the propaganda headline from the Gotcha! question:

Our media is treading on dangerous ground every time they attack Americans. They especially do so when they baselessly label the president as racist for referring to COVID-19 as the Chinese virus which did, in fact, originate in Wuhan, China. And every time they unreasonably question our response to the pandemic (notice I said unreasonably) they play into the Chinese Communist Party’s hands and further their disinformation campaign. Take a look at the Twitter account of Lijian Zhao,  Spokesperson & Deputy Director General, Information Department, Foreign Ministry of the Chinese Government if you really want to know how these media fools are being played and hurting our country.
