On Monday, Socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders told a Fox News town hall audience that if elected, he would not close America’s borders to protect Americans from becoming infected with the coronavirus.
Sanders suggested that doing so would be racist.
Gee, Bernie? You would ask your scientist and scientific advisers what to do? Don’t you think that Pres. Trump was told the best policy was to shut down travel to and from certain areas with high infection rates?

Bret Baier: “But if you had to, if you had to, would you close down the borders?” Fox News anchor Bret Baier asked Sanders.
Bernie Sanders: “No, I mean, what you don’t want to do right now — we have a president who has propagated a xenophobic, anti-immigrant sentiment from before he was elected.
If you think like Bernie, all this is because, you know, Trump is racist and xenophobic, so he’s closing borders and restricting travel for those reasons, not because it’s based on what is best for the people.
God forbid Trump to do something that common sense tells all of us was a good idea.

The US put travel restrictions in place early on and, as of midnight tonight has the lowest incidence rate (2.1 cases per million people) of any of the countries that have 100 or more total Covid-19 cases. The second place goes to Malaysia at 3.6 per million, and Australia is third at 4.0 per million.

It is too bad that the CDC made some errors in the initial round of test kits. In the end, it is going to spread, and not much can be done about it. That said, it spreads slower than influenza, and the mortality figures seem to indicate that it is primarily fatal to older persons and both older and young people with serious underlying medical conditions. That should help focus on mitigation efforts.
Bernie is ignorant. But let’s not just ridicule him, though he deserves it roundly, let’s understand his ignorance and why many are suckered into it.
The challenge for conservatives, classical liberals, and independents, is to inquire into Left-liberal ideology.

Our general too poor understanding of Left liberalism is a problem. Trump et al., have challenged but have not yet confronted progressivism philosophically head-on.

Once again, everything is racist if you are a leftist, losing their shirt in front of teh American people. If Trump wears blue socks, it’s racist. If he creates jobs for minorities by reducing business tax burdens, it’s racist. If he saves a Mexican child from a burning building, it’s racist. If he has a diet coke and burps, it’s racist.
Change the record Democrats. This tune is old, and the vinyl is warped.
