Well here we go again. Another day- and another certain catastrophic calamity from which we
will certainly never recover!

There is a crisis on our shores that is certain to bring us to the edge of the apocalypse. The
chattering class on TV has gone mad and straight into panic mode for only the third time this
week to make sure we are sufficiently rattled. The sirens are blaring with breaking news
banners from BBC to MSNBC and every channel in between. “The virus is spreading and
becoming a certain pandemic…”

“Ma, run for the hills! Save the babies!” There is a bad storm coming and it’s fixing to kill us all.
If it don’t the zombies surely will.

Pardon me if I don’t jump right up and run to the local warehouse store to stock up on beef
jerky and bullets. First of all, no self-respecting prepper would get caught short on Slim-Jims
and 10,000 rounds of buck shot and plenty of booze. I mean who didn’t see this coming? We
have been in a near constant state of civil breakdown for about 20 years now. Maybe longer. If
you weren’t buying 100 flashlights and cigarette lighters you were not paying close enough
attention.

Thankfully you have me!

Let’s go through just a few of the impending disasters we were warned about by ‘the experts’
that were sure to devastate the world and usher in the new dark ages for mankind.

Killer Bees- The swarm from South America was certain to invade America leaving corpses piled
in the streets and a country devastated.

The Metric System- Was certain to rain havoc on everything we weigh or measure. Not to
mention the devastating on football alone. Cheerleaders were certain to be weeping in the
streets.

Acid Rain- This menace would deal death from the sky. Fish and fowl were certain to perish and
mankind would soon follow. Lakes and rivers were to be turned into vats of death and there
almost nothing we could do about it.

The Hole In The Ozone Layer- We were told the hole was our fault and would turn us all into
Twilight Zone ants looking up a menacing little boy with a magnifying glass turning us into
flaming chunks of melting human flesh.

Y2K- Remember planes, trains, and automobiles would all be crippled and satellites were going
to fall from the sky. Our watches and computers were all going to stop working and bank were
certain to collapse.

But back then, no matter how half-baked and absurd such claims were, at least they were
limited to newspapers and radio programs. Today the fear mongering goes 24 hours a day and
whether or not it’s true it will have a life of its own on cable and social media.

And now fake news can extend beyond the apocalypse and doom of rising oceans and
‘unprecedented (fill in the blank) and include conspiracies of Russian election meddling, Donald
Trump throwing out statues of Martin Luther King, claims that Elvis is in Kalamazoo or Joe Biden
is competent enough to be President.

Being reckless with the facts or making up facts altogether is amplified today like no time in
history.

The problem is any little boy crying wolf can now go live on CNN and MSNBC every 15 minutes
or so to spread fear whether it’s warranted or not and when something serious actually
happens, nobody is listening anymore. But then the big media goes into overdrive and whips
them into a frenzy with a possibly serious illness spreading and they over correct and the whole
damn thing goes careening into the ditch.

Careful, if you don’t keep things under control everything can get turned upside down in a
flash. Keep your eyes on the road and your hands upon the wheel. And don’t panic.
