This year’s CPAC (Conservative Political Action Conference) event hosted by The American

Conservative Union (ACU) was held at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center February 26
through March 1st in Maryland, just outside of Washington, D.C.

The conference included many notable conservatives from the media as well politicians ,President
Trump, Vice President Pence, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, HHS Secretary Alex Azar, Ivanka,
Donald Trump and many others.

On Saturday, reports started circulating that there was an attendee at the conference who has tested
positive for COVID-19 in New Jersey after he had attended CPAC.

The White House has said there was no interaction between the infected person and the president or
vice president and the infected person never attended events in the main hall.

Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham talked about the monitoring of Trump’s health by saying, “The
President’s physician and United States Secret Service have been working closely with White House
Staff and various agencies to ensure every precaution is taken to keep the First Family and the entire
White House complex safe and healthy.”

Do you support individual military members being able to opt out of getting the COVID vaccine?

We don’t know anything about who this infected person is, what days and times he were there, where he
went or who he interacted with.

I doubt CPAC will make the person’s name public, but at the very least they could come up with a
timeline and figure out what the person did and where he went so attendees can be more informed if
they were at risk. I would assume there might be a hotel video to track his movements. I’ve watched
plenty of crime shows and hotels almost always have video recording inside and outside of the hotel.

It has been reported that the person’s exposure was previous to the conference. If he knew where his
exposure came from, why in the world did he go to the conference in the first place?

This infected person is a friend of CPAC Chairman, Matt Schlapp. The timeline of the interaction
between this person and Schlapp hasn’t been released but Schlapp shook Trump’s hand on stage the
last day of the conference.

Even though Schlapp has said in a tweet this infected person did not attend the conference on Saturday
the 29th when Trump was there.I don’t see how that matters.

The problem is that COVID-19 isn’t just spread by direct contact. The Trump administration and the CDC
has been using the phrase “community spread” for weeks. That means that the virus is spread by
fomites (surfaces that carry the virus) so unless the infected person didn’t touch anything the whole time
he was in the building, everyone who was there is possibly at risk of possibly getting the virus.

Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan said those who attended or worked at the conference may be at risk of
contracting the virus and urged any of this year’s attendees experiencing symptoms to reach out to their
health-care provider.

Democrats on Twitter jumped at the chance to ridicule the president for calling the virus a hoax (which
he didn’t) and wishing ill will on CPAC attendees, saying things like, “all good things come to those who
deserve them.”
