Chris Matthews was forced out of his primetime slot on MSNBC after
more than 20 years on the air. His signature series Hardball came to an
abrupt end on Monday night.

Matthews looking a bit out of sorts and seeming not sure what had gone
so terribly wrong, announced his retirement tweet and then said he
was sorry for offending people.

Really?

Wasn’t that the point of it all? Isn’t that what playing hardball is all
about? So, you pissed off people along the way and offended people
along the way- so what? I thought this guy had spine at least the made
for TV kind. I was wrong.

Honestly is was a pretty weak ending to a show that pretended to take
everyone to the woodshed—from both sides—of course that has not
been true in a very long time.

Chris Matthews has always been partisan and a Democrat—BUT he
wasn’t always a hack. He was however a hack in the end. Matthews
jumped on the liberal bandwagon of hating President Trump and it went
far beyond any rational evaluation of what the man is doing in office to
an endless barrage of cynicism and criticism.

He was caught up in the waves of political correctness in 2008 and felt a
chill run up his leg when Barrack Obama was elected President. That is
not the place of honest journalists—that is the place of fan boys and
former journalists.

Chris Matthews went out in a whimper, just another casualty in the
attack on free speech in America. You see Chris forgot to mention what
really happened and why he is no longer working for the Peacock. It’s
simple, he was cancelled by the young wave of elitists he praised in his
closing monologue. He was cancelled and then like a battered husband
apologized for bad behavior and past transgressions. His last words were
blathering non-sense about saying “complimentary things to women”
that were somehow not appropriate then or now. Compliments are
always appropriate. If he said something else, something truly out of
bounds he failed to admit it. If he crossed other lines he failed to own up
to that too.

What a phony.

What Chris Matthews was lost his perspective and his self-respect. He is
not alone. It happens to plenty of people these days. Verbally beaten into
submission he has become the thing he claimed he hated most, a fraud.

In a day when the left eats its own, at least there is still one man not
afraid to stand tall when confronted with his own appalling words from
the past, Bernie Sanders. I wonder though, if Chris Matthews can be run
out on a rail and he was, don’t kid yourself, can Bernie find himself on
the receiving end of that treatment too.

You bet. And Joe Biden knows when it does, it will be a big effing deal!
