Vince Reffett and his team are working on a pretty big project that could lead to some significant breakthroughs in personal aviation. To shorten that all up, they’re pretty much making an Iron man suit!!

CNN reported that on the 14th, the Jetman team ran a test flight that yielded some pretty crazy results. In previous tests, the team would begin take off while at high altitude. This time they managed to fly from a grounded start and made it about 6000 feet in the air in less than 30 seconds.

“We are so happy we achieved this incredible flight,” Reffett said in a statement. “It’s the result of extremely thorough teamwork, where each small step generated huge results. Everything was planned to the split second, and I was overjoyed by the progress that was achieved. It is another step in a long-term project. One of the next objectives is to land back on the ground after a flight at altitude, without needing to open a parachute. It’s being worked on,” [CNN]
After all the math was done, they found that the pilot averaged a speed of about 150 MPH. While in the air, Reffet was able to fly like he had one of Tony Stark’s latest suits. Not only was he able to make it above the clouds, but he could also maneuver and hover while doing so. He even pulled off a loop before ending the flight at around a 5000ft altitude.
Hats off to the Jetman team for working so hard to make something great. In the report from CNN, we can see that Reffet has completed around 50 flights along with more than 100 takeoffs. I think many engineers and some ordinary people have dreams of helping achieve more personalized tools for fight. Shoot, I did when I was younger, but let’s just say physics wasn’t a strong subject for me.
