The presidential talent for shtick was on full display Thursday afternoon at the White House as he, surrounded by family and friends, took on his enemies and thanked his allies for sticking with him through the impeachment drama.
Entering the room flanked by Marine guards and to the strains of Hail to the Chief, the audience erupted in thunderous applause upon seeing the GOP victor.
He immediately labeled the failed impeachment putsch by the Democrats “evil”, “corrupt”, “a disgrace”, and the product of “crooked politics” and “tremendous corruption” by “evil and sick people.”

The president called Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff “horrible people.” He said disgraced FBI head James Comey was “a sleaze-bag” and harkened back to the Muller investigation, which he defined as “bull****.”
Later in his address he held up a copy of a prominent leftist propaganda sheet that featured his acquittal and cleverly termed it, “the only good headline I’ve had in the Washington Post.”
He called Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff a “corrupt politician” and a “failed screenwriter” and conversely told GOP Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell “you did a fantastic job.”
The president, a master at improv comedy, went on riffs about McConnell’s shrewdly taciturn manner, “nobody wants to play poker with him,” and even joked about the baseball skills of GOP Rep. Steve Scalise. Scalise was wounded by a lone gunman in 2017 while practicing for a congressional baseball game.

Trump hailed McConnell and the GOP Senate for passing legislation that has brought 191 new Trump-appointed judges to the federal bench. Throughout the speech he saved his some of his strongest condemnations for GOP turncoat Senator Mitt Romney, who the president said was a “failed presidential candidate” who “ran one of the worst campaigns in the history of the country.”
