Someone very close to Ilhan Omar has dropped a bombshell on her – or about her, rather.

Omar, who has come under recent scrutiny over allegations that she married her brother to keep him in America, has done her best to try and ignore this story, but it continues to haunt her.

A new report from Daily Mail reveals that Omar had told “friends” about her plan to marry her brother.

Now, Daily Mail says one of those friends has come forward with the truth about the scandal, and they’re saying “Yes…Omar did marry her brother.”

His name is Abdihakim Osman and he’s a friend of Omar’s and Somali community leader.

He said that when Hirsi (the husband she just divorced) and Ilhan got married, a lot of people were invited. He said that it was a big Islamic wedding that brought together two large clans in the Minneapolis community.

“I would say there were 100-150 people there,” Osman said.

But, he said it was much different when she married Elmi (the suspected brother). Osman said no one even knew about that wedding.

But it’s difficult to actually prove if that is indeed her brother because there’s a shortage of “official paperwork” in war-torn Somalia.

Abdihakim Osman is the first person to go on record to speak of how Omar said she wanted to get her brother papers so he could stay in the United States, at a time when she was married to her first husband Ahmed Hirsi.

But hardly anyone realized that meant marrying him.

‘No one knew there had been a wedding until the media turned up the marriage certificate years later,’ Osman, 40, exclusively told DailyMail.com.

Osman’s revelations are sure to renew calls for an investigation into the Minnesota freshman representative who has repeatedly refused to answer questions on her marriage to Elmi.

She originally said the idea that the spouses were also siblings were ‘baseless, absurd rumors’, accusing journalists of Islamophobia, but has since stayed quiet. [Daily Mail]

The response from Omar’s camp on the matter is very interesting.

When Daily Mail reached out to them for a comment on what Mr. Osman claimed, they did not deny the story.

Hardly.

Instead, the spokesperson said that Ilhan Omar does not comment on her family or personal life and provided this quote:

‘The Congresswoman is focused on the work her constituents sent her to Washington to accomplish.”

Things that make you go hmmm, right?
