Melania Trump has received more flack than any other First Lady in modern history, yet she continues to be a class act at every turn. She showed this once again on Monday, when she hosted a White House luncheon for governors’ spouses and urged them to take her “Be Best” initiative back home with them.

“I know the many issues associated with online safety will be hard to stop, but there is a need now more than ever to teach our children healthy behavior to secure a safer future for all of them,” Melania said as she hosted the lunch in the White House Blue Room, according to Fox News.

Since moving into the White House three years ago, Melania has made targeting cyberbullying a cornerstone of her “Be Best” campaign. During the luncheon, Melania told the story of 16-year-old high school junior, Channing Smith, who committed suicide last September after enduring bullying for being gay.

“He was so ashamed and felt so hopeless that Channing committed suicide,” Melania said. “Since their tragic loss, the Smith family has been using their grief to partner with influencers such as Billy Ray Cyrus to educate people about the dangers of cyberassault.”

Melania went on to urge the spouses to help her spread her campaign and “consider addressing this issue in your own home states so that no family will have to suffer from a loss like the Smiths.”  She also told them to “promote values of encouragement, kindness, compassion and respect.”

Many have accused Melania of being a hypocrite for launching this campaign, given the fact that her husband President Donald Trump is known for going after people on Twitter. However, it should be noted that Melania’s campaign is meant to help children who are dealing with cyberbullying, not adults who are perfectly able to defend themselves.

Since becoming First Lady, Melania has been hit with attack after attack from the left, yet she continues to rise above the fray at all times. We are lucky to have a first lady that is as classy and elegant as she is.
