Representative Matt Gaetz (R-FL.), is filing charges against Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi for ripping up Donald Trump’s State of the Union speech on Tuesday night.

Gaetz revealed that he would be filing these charges during an appearance on Laura Ingraham’s Fox News show, in which he explained that he believes Pelosi broke the law by ripping up the speech.

“Tomorrow I will be filing charges against Nancy Pelosi in the House Ethics Committee,” Gaetz said, according to Daily Caller. “She disgraced the House of Representatives, she embarrassed our country and she destroyed official records.”

“The law does not allow the Speaker of the House to destroy the records of the House and the rules of the House do not permit some little temper tantrum just because you don’t like what the president of the United States says,” the Florida Republican continued.

This comes after Vice President Mike Pence expressed his shock at Pelosi’s actions, saying that he “wasn’t sure if she was ripping up the speech or ripping up the Constitution.”

“We ought to apply the same standards to the Democrats that they want to apply to us and there will be an ethics investigation into Nancy Pelosi and we will start the ball rolling to have her censured,” Gaetz said. “And the first act begins tomorrow when [Republican New York] Congressman Zeldin and I will join Kay Granger in a censure resolution and we will force a vote on that resolution.”

Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-NY.) then said that he agreed with Gaetz.

“She should be censured,” he said. “It was a disgrace, it was an embarrassment. Basically from the inside out, Nancy Pelosi has been poisoned. She is now poisoning the House of Representatives and Congress and our country.”

Zeldin added that Pelosi is now being controlled by “the far left, which has basically taken over the Democratic Party.”

Pelosi’s behavior on Tuesday night was absolutely despicable, so it’s good that she is being held accountable for it. Hopefully, other Democrats will get the message that this kind of behavior against the president will not be tolerated.
