Sen. Chuck Schumer is not happy that Sen. Mitch McConnell won’t bend the knee to cave to Democrat demands on how to work the impeachment trial of Pres. Donald Trump.

I find it ironic that the House majority (Dems) could choose its rules for the impeachment inquiry, but the Senate majority (Reps) is not allowed to select its rules for the Senate trial?

Imagine if the media reported like this during the house hearings?

This is not a trial in a court of law, so stop thinking it will act like one, or even should. These proceedings are the prosecution (House), presenting their closing arguments to the jury (Senate). All the investigations and information-gathering were to be done in the House.

The Senate has absolute constitutional rights not to call witnesses or investigate anything further. They can choose to do so if they wish, but shouldn’t have to. If the House is so convinced they have all the evidence they need to bring forth the articles (Which they are supposed to do before even voting on them) then, there’s nothing the Senate is required to do, except listen to the Democrats’ case and decide. Period. Don’t like it, tough. Change the constitution.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell released the rules for a Senate impeachment trial on Monday evening, the night before Republicans in the chamber are set to approve them by what is expected to be a party-line vote.

The most noteworthy detail: Republicans will leave the House impeachment managers only two days to make their opening arguments. In the 1999 impeachment trial of then-President Bill Clinton, House Republicans arguing the case against the Democratic president were given three days.

McConnell, R-Ky., will argue the current rules give House Democrats now making the case against Republican President Trump a total of 24 hours to make their arguments.

But limiting opening arguments to no more than two days and scheduling them to start on Wednesday 1 p.m., Democrats will be forced to make their case against the president well past midnight on Wednesday and Thursday night. [Yahoo News]

After reading his resolution, it’s clear Sen. McConnell is hell-bent on making it much more difficult to get witnesses & documents and intent on rushing the trial through

Why does it take more than one day to do an opening argument? But again, we are talking about politicians and how they love to milk the system and waste as much as they can. I can think of a few things that they could be arguing about and fixing in the two days that they are wasting on an opening statement — the infrastructure in this country.

How they plan on paying back Social Security that they have been stealing for decades? The national debt? How they plan on removing our military from the Middle East and stop being the world’s police force in the Middle East? Many other, more important things need to be done. But instead, for almost four years now, they have been wasting money and time on trying to find something on Trump and the Clintons and whoever else they could try to get into a courtroom to waste time and money on. Why are taxpayers even allowing these parties to waste money?

It is not the job of the Senate to investigate the President for possible Impeachable acts. That was the House’s job. If there were real crimes, the vote would have been bipartisan as in Nixon and Clinton. The Senate must decide on the Houses case of impeachment.

As for witnesses, they should all have been called in the impeachment hearing, regardless of how long it would have taken, but Pelosi was in a hurry, not doing her or the House’s job. Now they want the Senate to do it for them. The Senate’s role is to hear the case on the merits of which the House’s gave them and to determine the evidence forthwith.

Is anybody surprised by how the Senate will handle the proceedings? Was anybody surprised by how the House ran theirs? All’s fair in love, war, and politics!

Keep in mind folks that the Democrats started this impeachment process the day after the 2016 Presidential election.
