The Dems went all-in on a Texas special election. They called it a “bellwether” election – meaning it would “set the tone” for 2020 and help turn Texas blue All the big-name Dems jumped in to help candidate Eliz Markowitz win.
The tone has been set for 2020!

This was the election, they said, that would set the tone for the country. The #Resistance was going to storm the GOP Texas castle in the suburbs and begin their blue takeover of the red state.

Leading the charge was failed 2020 presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke, who vowed a Democrat win.
As a matter of fact, the election became more about HIM than it did the actual candidate running…so you know it was doomed to fail!
The first critical election of 2020 is happening now in Fort Bend, TX. Victory for Eliz Markowitz means we can win the state house and build the team to defeat Trump in Texas. Join us to knock on doors this last weekend before Election Day. https://t.co/jRr8swVw1S

Well, they lost…but not just by a little. They got absolutely shellacked!
Dems suffered a humiliating 16-point loss in the Houston suburb.
Think about this. During the last election in that district R’s won by 8 points.
Yesterday, they won by 16 points.
I guess the “tone” has been set.
Will the national media be promoting the fact that in 2018 this was a +8 Republican win and yesterday it finished +16 for Republicans? https://t.co/uNTrpcbwJk

Democrats had hoped to deliver a message that Texas is in play in the presidential election, thanks to its rapidly changing suburbs. President Trump won the suburban Fort Bend district by 10 points, and Sen. Ted Cruz (R) won there in 2018 by just 3 points. Former Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D) and several presidential candidates campaigned with Markowitz.
“Today, voters resoundingly rejected the Democrats’ socialist ideology and took a major step toward keeping Texas red. As we look ahead to the 2020 election, we must be prepared to replicate this success across the state if we are to secure a more prosperous future for Texas,” Gov. Greg Abbott (R) said in a statement.
Democrats privately admitted that the election became more about O’Rourke, who ended his presidential bid in November, than about Markowitz or Gates. O’Rourke’s presence was ubiquitous, pushing Republican voters to the polls. [The Hill]
I don’t know how much more clear Americans need to be…we do not like Beto O’Rourke. I’m sorry that he bought into the Senate hype and media attention he received when he ran against Cruz.
The only reason that happened was that the mainstream media hates Cruz the same way they hate Trump.
Whatever they said good about Beto was based on their hatred of Cruz, not a genuine admiration or respect for that skateboarding buffoon.
