Nearly every household in the United States has a bottle of Ketchup in their pantry or refrigerator.

It’s understandably a well-loved condiment especially on top of hot dogs, hamburgers, and just about anything else!

Though ketchup is a beloved condiment that is ingrained in American culture, it’s not particularly good for your health.

Now, doctors are issuing a warning to Americans to tread carefully when it comes to ketchup for health reasons.

Ketchup is actually full of dangerous chemicals that can wreak havoc on your health. Manufacturers like Heinz use tomato concentration, which is a dried version of red tomatoes that needs to have water added.  

On top of the tomato concentration, they use distilled vinegar, high-fructose corn syrup (a sweetener that has been processed from corn), corn syrup (more sugar), salt (which increases your risk of high blood pressure), spices, onion powder, and natural flavoring.

For each 1.3 liter bottle of ketchup, Heinz uses 33 tablespoons of sugar, which is more than two cups of sugar!

The average serving of ketchup you put on a hamburger is 2 tablespoons that you likely never knew that you were eating! The amount of sugar is shocking!
