—Here are 3 big things you need to know—

One — Pope Francis has a respiratory infection and will be hospitalized for several days.  The Vatican says Francis has been experiencing difficulty breathing in recent days.  It was discovered after the pope went to a hospital in Rome to undergo scheduled medical checkups.

Two—   The state’s personal income tax rate will officially drop to four-point-zero-five percent for next year. State Treasurer Rachael Eubanks says the rate will fall from the current four-point-25 percent, but argues it should only fall for one year. The drop is due to a law in 2015 that called for the tax cut if revenues exceed a certain cap factored in inflation. The law’s authors say the tax cut should be permanent.

Three — The Senate is voting to end the nation’s COVID-19 Emergency Declaration.  On Wednesday, the GOP-led resolution was passed 68-to-23 to end the national emergency that’s been in place since 2020.  The bill is now on the way to the desk of President Biden.
