—Here are 3 big things you need to know—
Three— The nation’s oldest living World War Two veteran is celebrating a birthday. Lawrence Brooks of New Orleans turned 112 yesterday and got a shout out from Lousiana Governor John Bel. He posted a picture of the two together and thanked Brooks for his service.
Two— As many as 13-hundred refugees from Afghanistan could be resettled in Michigan by the end of the year. Bethany Christian Services is working to find homes for them after the Taliban took control following the withdrawal of the American military. Bethany president Chris Palusky says people are in hiding and their lives in Afghanistan were in jeopardy.
And number one— President Biden is making one last pitch to California voters today before tomorrow’s recall election. He’ll campaign for Governor Gavin Newsom at a rally in Long Beach. Voters are deciding whether to remove Newsom from office and if so, who would replace him.
