Republicans woke up Wednesday morning to a political nightmare. Democrats captured the House and Senate, flipped seats in traditionally Republican territory and left conservatives wondering whether they should start stocking up on chocolate, alcohol or emergency survival supplies.
But before everyone starts digging a bunker, perhaps it’s time to revisit something the late conservative radio legend Rush Limbaugh used to say.
Rush, Is It Time to Panic?
For years, Limbaugh’s listeners asked him whether America’s political situation had finally reached the point of panic.
On November 6, 2020, following that year’s presidential election and the Biden victory, Limbaugh addressed the question directly. He said, “It isn’t time to panic because I’m never gonna panic. I’m never gonna give up. It’s not time to run away. It’s not time to walk away. It’s never gonna be time to run away or walk away from the country.”
He continued, “Panic never accomplished anything.”
And he wasn’t kidding. Limbaugh insisted that no election defeat justified abandoning the country or surrendering politically.
The Democrats Won. Now What?
Fast-forward six years, and Republicans have plenty to worry about. Democrats are preparing to take control of Congress in January, with investigations, legislative battles and possible impeachment proceedings looming.
And many of them are not “normal” Democrats. They’re progressive. They’re anti-Israel. They’re anti- Constitution. They’re anti-American.
But remember… no matter how bleak things look, you don’t give up on America. For those of you who need to hear Limbaugh say it, listen to him in the video below:
His larger message was that political power changes hands, elections have consequences and losing doesn’t mean the fight is over.
Put Down the Tissues and Pick Up the Pieces
So, yes, Republicans got clobbered Tuesday. But the country didn’t disappear overnight. Limbaugh’s advice still holds: Don’t panic. Don’t surrender. And perhaps most importantly, don’t confuse losing an election with losing the future.
We all need to stay in the game and fight the good fight. 2028 is only two years away.
